Bam Bam Suffers a Close Loss at Australian National Championships

Posted on

Bianca ‘Bam Bam’ Elmir competed in the 60kg weight division against Commonwealth gold medalist Shelly Watts on the Gold Coast, at the Australian National Amateur Boxing Championships. It was a very close fight, which went to Shelley. We want to offer a huge congratulations to Shelley who now goes through to the World Championships and potentially the Olympic Games in 2016.

The outcome has resulted in a change of trajectory for Bianca, who will now renominate at 54kg (a more natural weight division for Bianca), in order to compete at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Kazakstan in May 2016. She aims to be the first Australian ever to win gold at the World competition.

Bianca is in a very strong position to represent Australia at these championships, being an extremely strong fighter in the 54 kg weight division.

We wish both Bianca and Shelley all the very best in the pursuit of their dreams.
